Britain Is Baking – More Than We Did Last Year!

Friday, December 24th, 2010

Britain Is Baking – More Than We Did last Year! Latest research from AGA Rangemaster reveals that we are baking more than we did this time last year.

And a huge rise in the sales of bakeware, shows the most popular cake this Christmas is not a traditional cake or pudding, but the mini-muffin.

AGA Rangemaster’s Great British Kitchen survey, reveals that over a third of Britons (36%) are baking more than they did a year ago.

In the first week of December, AGA Cookshop saw a massive 110% increase in sales of mini muffin tins compared to the same week last year

Author, AGA doyenne and baking expert Mary Berry isn’t surprised, saying “mini muffins are so much more practical than the huge American version, which are definitely too much to eat in one go. It’s very important to get the young baking and making smaller versions of tea-time favourites is a great way to get them excited.”

Mary Berry adds: “Baking is huge fun and offers a real sense of well being and achievement and, of course, home-baked treats are delicious. It’s so welcoming for children when they come home from school and are given something home-baked for tea.

The Great British Bake Off really inspired everyone to make their own cakes and bread. And the great news is that there’s a new Great British Bake Off on BBC2 in 2011.”

Cooking is shown to be at the very heart of a family home – the survey revealed that 44% of British cooks learned from their parents, whereas only 6% learned at school and 6% from packet instructions

We are also embracing technology when it comes to finding new recipes – two thirds of us use recipes we have found online, one in seven have used a food blog and one in 12 have downloaded a recipe app to a mobile phone

The AGA Rangemaster Great British Kitchen Survey was conducted online by Next Big Thing/OnePoll with 3,000 respondents interviewed.

The Kitchen & Bathroom Show at Harrogate & Top Tips

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

The Kitchen & Bathroom Show at Harrogate & Top Tips Upgrading the kitchen is currently the most popular home improvement and the organisers of The Kitchen & Bathroom Show, at the Harrogate International Centre from 5th to 7th November, have come up with some great top tips to help you create that dream kitchen.

Also if you’re looking to extend, improve, enhance or even build your own home, then pay a visit to the co-located Homebuilding & Renovating Show with over 200 exhibitors.
Tickets to The Kitchen and Bathroom Show give entry to both Shows.

Create a Personal Storyboard
Start by imagining yourself in the kitchen and think about the way you like to cook, entertain or spend time with friends and family. Cut out pictures of kitchens that inspire you, collect samples and build up a storyboard of styles, appliances, colours and materials. Add an outline plan of your kitchen with dimensions and positions of windows and doors. Now you’re ready to speak to the experts.

Get Advice from the Experts
Take your storyboard to one or two kitchen design experts – most good kitchen companies offer this service; the best ones ask you lots of questions about your home, lifestyle and tastes, to build up a clear picture of what you are looking for.

Then Visit The Kitchen & Bathroom Show and book a one-to-one consultation at The Kitchen & Bathroom Design Experience, an individual design, advice and information centre with experts from The Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom Specialists Association.

Consider the Golden Triangle
The golden triangle connects the three main work areas – the sink, cooker and fridge and the principle of the ideal ‘work triangle’ is that these appliances are no more than 2.7 metres from one another. The space between should be kept clear of obstructions and cabinets so that you have no restriction of movement when you’re cooking.

Working the Surfaces
Choosing the right work surfaces is an all important decision, as they often define the ‘look’ of a kitchen. And remember you can never have enough!

Creating the Mood with Lighting
Separate your lighting into zones to meet the needs of the different areas in your kitchen. Bright lights should be focused directly over your work triangle with the option of softer lighting over the dining and/or relaxation area.

Your dream kitchen should reflect your personality and lifestyle and meet your future needs. Having a bespoke kitchen isn’t always a more expensive option so do consider the individual kitchen design companies that can’t be found on the High Street.

If you’re looking for the latest innovations and inspirational designs, then a visit to the UK’s only dedicated Kitchen & Bathroom Show, at the Harrogate International Centre from 5th to 7th November is a must.

Tickets to The Kitchen & Bathroom Show are £5 in advance and £8 on the day (children under 16 go free).

For more information please visit the show website.

The Innovative A-Rated Rayburn 480CD

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

The Innovative A-Rated Rayburn 480CD Reliability and efficiency have always been at the heart of the Rayburn concept. But now, with the advent of the new 480 CD, these benefits are even more pronounced.

Rayburn understands that a dependable heating system is essential in order to provide comfort and hot water all year round.

The 480 CD has a balanced flue, which means that there is no need for a chimney and it can be conveniently situated against any suitable outside wall.

Independently tested, results show the boiler to be 90% efficient, an ‘A’ rating, which means lower fuel bills and lower emissions.

The level of efficiency is achieved because the Rayburn 480 CD uses modern gas condensing boiler technology, with a proven, super-efficient heat exchanger built in.

In addition, this utilises the heat energy from the boiler’s exhaust gases, (lost to the atmosphere with a conventional boiler), to also heat the water in the system.

As an extra assurance, the boiler has been designed to deliver proven reliability; it is fully modulated, so that it only produces the output required, which means that it can heat a two bedroomed flat, as efficiently as a six bedroomed house.

It also has an ‘Eco Setting’, which can regulate the temperature of the water within the system, so that it’s kept at the optimum level.

It can heat up to sixteen average radiators, and is fully compatible with existing systems, opened and sealed; so, unless your radiators are due for an overhaul, there’s no need to change them.

Colours available: Cream, Claret, Dark Blue, Aqua, British Racing Green, Black and Pewter.

For further information visit the Rayburn website.

Rayburn’s Boiler Scrappage Incentive - Save up to £800

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Rayburn’s Boiler Scrappage Incentive - Save up to £800 The government is offering a £400 rebate when you replace an existing, working G-rated oil or gas boiler with a modern A-rated boiler.

But with Rayburn’s innovative boiler scrappage incentive, there are no fewer than THREE ways to save:

Saving
Rayburn’s 480CD gas condensing central heating boiler is A-rated, so if it is purchased to replace an older G-rated boiler you will qualify for the government’s scrappage rebate of £400.*

Saving 2
Rayburn is matching the government’s contribution by dropping the price of the ultra-efficient Rayburn 480CD gas central heating range cooker by £400 so that everyone can benefit - even if they’re not replacing an older boiler. That means you can now save up to £800 on a brand new Rayburn.

Saving 3
If you buy a new Rayburn now, not only could you qualify for the government’s £400 rebate and get £400 off, but you will also benefit from the fact that Rayburn is holding VAT at 15% until 29th March 2010.
