Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Stunning New 2008 Bathroom Catalogue From DrummondsDrummonds the luxury bathroom manufacturer based in Hindhead, Surrey and Chelsea, has launched their spectacular new catalogue for 2008.

It beautifully presents the entire Drummonds offering, emphasising the vast range of handmade products the company designs and manufactures.

This year the bathroom range features a collection of complete suites and more gorgeous room set photography to fire your imagination.

The luxurious baths, shower trays with solid brass showers and accessories, sit alongside Drummonds’ reclaimed wood and stone flooring, brass door and window furniture and architectural antiques.

The catalogue features a number of new products in the bathroom collection, including a curvaceous 3 hole bath and basin mixer and a sleek backloading bath mixer with attached wall mounted shower; also a striking single and double marble vanity basin.

Drummonds pride themselves on their classic designs and handcrafted quality by skilled craftspeople using traditional techniques and only the finest materials, to achieve the highest level of quality and craftsmanship.

Drummonds is also the only company in the world that can re-enamel your bath using the traditional Victorian vitreous dry frit (powdered glass) process; the resultant enamel is incredibly hard, durable and approximately three times thicker than the wet coated enamel more commonly used today.

Villeroy & Boch’s Ergonomic Bathroom For A Lifetime

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Villeroy & Boch’s Ergonomic Bathroom For A LifetimeRainer Moll, the renowned German designer, has produced an innovative collection for Villeroy & Boch, designed specifically for those in the prime of their lives.

The needs of homeowners change with increasing age, however this does not mean that they must compromise on style; the Lifetime collection demonstrates clever use of product design to create solutions.

By incorporating grips that are not immediately apparent, experimenting with mobility and lowering unit heights, the bathroom has become more user friendly for those who may have mobility difficulties.

Pure ergonomics: The multifunctional character of many elements enhances comfort; the mobile trolley doubles as both vanity unit and bench, enabling the user to shave or put on make-up, while sitting comfortably.

The wash area becomes a cockpit - via the mobile trolley with castors that can be locked into position, the user has everything within easy reach, particularly the compartments, shelves and drawers of the rotating tall cabinet with its full-length mirror, or the compartments of the side cabinet.

Additional features include a bath equally suitable for bathing or showering, a washbasin with recessed grips, offering support whilst standing and a concealed overflow plus anti-splash rim to prevent water reaching the bathroom floor.

The WC provides extra comfort and support to the user and the toilet roll holder has an additional handle to assist movement.

All of the Lifetime furniture items feature pull-out elements, enabling the contents to be seen, removed and easily reached from either a standing or seated position.

The new Lifetime collection is available from a number of leading Villeroy & Boch stockists.

City Life Bathroom Collection From Villeroy & Boch

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

The City Life Bathroom Collection From Villeroy & Boch The latest trend for modern interiors is the lavish “groom room”; a multifunctional but luxurious space, which is a pampering zone, fitness area and dressing room all rolled into one.

In recognition of this trend, Villeroy & Boch has introduced the new City Life collection, which includes sleek ceramics and understated, easy-to-live-with bathroom furniture.

The emphasis is on clean, uncomplicated lines, to create a relaxing space in which to soothe the mind, body and soul.

The City Life Freestanding Bath provides the ideal centrepiece for the “groom room”; made from 100% recyclable material, which has been designed to offer maximum comfort, being warm to the touch, slip and sound resistant and easy-clean. The large bath features gently curved contours, which contrast with the sharp, straight lines of the walnut base.

The new Smart Bench redefines the WC for today’s modern bathroom; the elegant walnut furniture conceals a ceramic toilet, which features an easy-care Ceramicplus finish, a coordinating wooden seat, plus a toilet roll and brush included within the furniture itself.

The stunning new Metric Art vanity washbasin has straight, geometric lines, offered in White Alpin or Star White, with an easy-care Ceramicplus finish and the revolutionary anti-bacterial Activecare glaze.
An optional vanity unit is also available for added storage.

All of the City Life collection is available in either a walnut finish or Okuree real wood veneer finish; the soft, luxurious effect of the wood, is complemented perfectly with indirect lighting on clean glass shelves, to create a soothing atmosphere in which to relax and unwind.

Bathrooms International’s Up-Coming Trends For 2007 With over 30 years experience, Bathrooms International is proud of its global reputation as a leading bathrooms company, selecting and sourcing the most exclusive range of baths, sanitary ware, fittings and accessories from Europe and America.

Cheryl Gurner, head of creative design at Bathrooms International, is a leading authority in the bathroom industry and predicts the trends for 2007:

  • There is a definite movement towards quality in terms of design and material, people are prepared to pay more for something of lasting value, looks and performance, preferably from the UK or Europe.
  • Pure white crystal is going to be big in 2007 – in our case it will be taps, and in a wide range of finishing touches; Bronze and Nickel will continue to be the most popular metals.
  • Stone and wood and any natural ecological material will be in favour and recycling and the use of organic principles and materials will become the norm.
  • Personal style and preference will be much stronger than what’s new or by the latest designer.– Individual and `made in small batches’ will be the key message.
  • Bathrooms will continue to be the focal and private place for peace and quiet where nothing can intrude!

The bathroom featured here is a luxurious Tessa Kennedy design.

Burg Crono Vanity Unit from Ripples with Chromatherapy LightingAs this is the season of New Year’s Resolutions, Ripples have some great ideas for a healthier lifestyle, and to relax after the excesses of the festive season.

One of their suggestions is to steam away those toxins in a steam shower - either installing a custom made steam shower enclosure or by adding a steam generator to transform your existing shower.

Alternatively, you can create a relaxing haven in your bathroom using aromatherapy candles, essential oils and chromatherapy lighting. Ripples can install this colourful lighting in any bathroom - choose from greens and blues to restore, yellows to cheer and invigorate or reds to stimulate.
