New Bold Surface Patterns – Tarim Tiles From Craven Dunnill
After an extensive period of subtle patterns and minimal colour schemes in the bathroom, there is now resurgence in surface pattern and block colour.

Craven Dunnill reflects this emerging trend, with its new Tarim collection of ceramic tiles for the walls and floor, which features a bold floral design in gloss finish and field tiles in warm tones of chocolate and cream; the elegant colour scheme balances the bold floral design, to create a contemporary classic to stand the test of time.

The Tarim range from Craven Dunnill’s Renaissance Collection features two colours: Marfil a rich cream, and Wenge a warm chocolate brown.

Both are available in scored and plain wall tiles with matching floor tiles; the floral design is depicted in a high gloss finish on a satin brown background and is available as an inset wall tile and as a décor tile.

Shown here:

  • Tarim Marfil and Wenge 415 x 316mm: around £26.05m.²
  • Tarim Wenge inset 415 x 316mm: around £15.45 each.
  • Tarim Wenge Décor 316 x 100mm: around £5.50 each.

Replica Tiled Floor at Sandon Hall

Craven Dunnill Jackfield have been displaying their restoration expertise at Sandon Hall, a listed stately home in Staffordshire.

The Minton tiled conservatory floor at the Hall was 140 years old and showing serious signs of wear and tear.

In consultation with English Heritage, the decision was made to replace the stunning (but worn) original ornate tiled floor with a replica by Craven Dunnill Jackfield.

Using their tile-making and restoration skills, Craven Dunnill Jackson made 20,000 tiles for the project, 5,000 of which had to be cut to size. The encaustic tiles were hand-made using Victorian tile-making techniques.

Craven Dunnill Jackfield is housed within the Jackfield Tile Museum at Ironbridge Gorge. It has a reputaion for historical accuracy in its restorations, and has worked on many acclaimed renovation projects.

Paris Ceramics Re-opens London Showroom

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Mother of Pearl Wall Tiles from Paris CeramicsFounded in 1982, Paris Ceramics was originally known for the antique terracotta and native stone floors reclaimed from all over the world.

These days, especially with the re-opening of its London showroom, it is now known for much more.

It continues to reclaim antique floors, but it also offers new floors, plain or distressed, in a range of materials, including terracottas, marbles and many different types of limestone.

Another speciality of Paris Ceramics is the creation of mosaics made from tiny pieces of hand sawn stone and marble, using only naturally occuring colours (see mother of pearl mosaic for walls above). A range of mosaic designs is available and Paris Ceramics will, of course, work to special commission.

This is the company to go to if you’re looking for a stone architectural component, whether it be columns, mullions, balustrades, staircases or ornately carved fire surrounds.

Paris Ceramics also offer a complete design and installation service, undertaking specialised commissions - an invaluable resource if you’re seeking a “one-off”.
