IKEA’s 7th PS Collection Looks Into The Past For The Future

IKEA PS Collection 2012

Ikea launched its 7th PS collection across all stores in the UK and Ireland on 1st May.

The 7th IKEA PS collection is made up of 46 new products created by 19 designers.

Inspired by Ikea’s design history the variety brings ideas into the future by updating form, function, materials and sustainability factors, while maintaining the core idea of affordability:

  • IKEA PS 2012 includes more sustainable and renewable materials like wood plastic composite, pocket springs, linen, bamboo, recycled PET plastic and LED.
  • Anybody can make a good-quality product for a high price or a poor-quality product for a low price, but to make good quality products at low prices, it is necessary to develop methods that are both cost-efficient and innovative.
  • Ikea knows that good design, quality and value for money are important to their customers, which is why they aim to produce well designed, functional, sustainable, good quality products that are affordable for most people.
  • IKEA’s PS collections demonstrate their ‘Democratic Design’ philosophy – a statement about their design values.

PS means Post Scriptum – putting a focus on cutting edge Scandinavian furniture design.
