The Energy Saving Trust’s “Habits of Lifetime†survey concluded that 71% of householders admit to leaving appliances on standby; surely in a world of climate change, we all have a responsibility to protect our environment and the world we live in for our children?
It costs the average UK household £37 a year to leave their appliances on standby; this is equivalent to the annual output of about 2½ 700MW power stations!
Households in the UK now waste around 10% of their electricity bill on standby power; the average household has up to 12 gadgets left on standby or charging at any one time.
The Energy Saving Trust advises us to switch appliances off at the wall… but how many do, to the detriment of the world we live in?
Domia has responded to the problem by creating a product, which is both simple and affordable for consumers:
Bye Bye Standby is a new energy saving and cost cutting solution, designed for both home and office use; it is a clever combination of smart sockets and a wireless remote control, enabling users to cut power to any appliance in standby mode at the simple touch of a button.
An independent test confirms that a family of four using three Bye Bye Standby devices, will save around £38 per annum, confirming the claim made by the Energy Saving Trust.
Â
Furthermore, if the majority of UK households were to use this energy saving kit, we could save around 8.4 TWh of energy (about half the power
output of a coal-fired power station)!
The Bye Bye Standby Energy Saving Kit retails at £29.99.
