New Siemens Dishwasher Makes Its Mark

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

New Siemens Dishwasher Makes Its MarkLeading kitchen appliance manufacturer Siemens has introduced a freestanding dishwasher in a stunning stainless steel look.

What sets the new model (SN26M890GB) apart from others, is that this 60cm wide dishwasher now boasts 14 place settings - instead of the standard 12, thanks to a larger internal capacity within the same size cavity.

It also incorporates a ‘Vario Drawer’ for the first time, situated at the top of the appliance, which is perfect for small utensils, cups and cutlery.

This machine uses only 12 litres of water and has been awarded a top triple ‘A’ rating for wash, dry and energy performance; it has a very low noise level of just 46 decibels, making it ideal for an open plan kitchen.

Six programme options – including delicate and intensive programmes are offered, together with a choice of five different wash temperatures to cater for all types of crockery.

There is also a special HydroSensor III programme, in which sensors detect the level of soiling and automatically adjust the amount of water and detergent to suit the wash.

By pressing the ‘Eco Option’, you can save even more water and electricity by slowing down the programme, still with an ‘A’ rated energy cycle; the half load button further reduces water consumption by up to 30% per wash.

Other features of this new fingerprint free, stainless steel look dishwasher include, a stainless steel interior, adjustable baskets and foldable plate racks, new easy-load detergent dispenser, child lock and HydroSafe anti-flood protection, for total peace of mind at all times.

Coordinating stainless steel appliances for cooking, cooling and laundry are also available.

Capacious new 14 place setting dishwashers in white and black can now be ordered from Siemens stockists nationwide.

5 Tips for Choosing a Dishwasher

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Ken Humphrey has come up with 5 great tips for choosing a dishwasher - and he should know - he’s Brand Manager for Bosch who make some of the most advanced dishwashers available:

  • Flexible baskets make a huge difference. Features like foldable plate racks, long stemmed glass holders and dividable cutlery baskets are all things to look out for. The more flexible the baskets are, the more pots and pans you can fit in, the less you have to wash up! Bosch even offer a special baking tray spray so nothing need be left out.
  • Choose a model with a fully automatic washing programme. This means that the dishwasher will choose the right programme cycle and temperature for the load, ensuring optimum results. Research shows that customers are often disappointed with the washing results they get and this is because they’re choosing the wrong programme for the load.
  • A half load option or upper basket only wash is a useful feature. Great if you haven’t got enough for a full load, it uses less water and is the perfect solution for after breakfast or a light lunch.
  • If you’re always in a hurry, Quick Wash is a feature to look out for. On a Bosch model this option returns your crockery beautifully washed in just under half an hour.
  • If you haven’t got a dishwasher, get one! An average family spends 1 - 2 hours a day washing up. A dishwasher only takes 15 minutes to load and takes up much less water and energy than washing up by hand.

Bosch Logixx SGS65L22 Dishwasher

This is the latest dishwasher from Bosch - the Logixx SGS65L22.

Although this dishwasher may not look green, it certainly has green credentials, using only 9 litres of water, which Bosch claim makes it the most water efficient dishwasher on the market.

This Logixx dishwasher also has a Vario Speed feature which can cut the washing time in half for when you need your dishes fast.

It also features a Half Load option that, unusually, doesn’t require you to load everything in the upper basket, yet still returns 30% savings in water.

The Aqua Vario feature adjusts the spray pressure according to how dirty your dishes are - as well as saving energy and water, this feature can save unnecessary wear and tear on your crockery too.

The latest Bosch dishwasher even saves your ears - at 44dB, Bosch say it makes the same noise level as ten leaves falling from a tree! Which sounds much more relaxing than having to do the dishes by hand.
