Nina Campbell’s Charleston Collection From And So To Bed

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Nina Campbell’s Charleston Collection From And So To Bed The magnificent new ‘Charleston Collection’ of beds and furniture, designed by Nina Campbell exclusively for And So To Bed, is launching in their King’s Road flagship store this October.

Nina marries mirror glass, silver lacquered wood and rich dark timbers, inspired by the dazzling zeitgeist of the 1930’s, to create a sophisticated architectural feel; upholstered elements give the final stamp of luxury to a collection, which oozes glamour.

The centrepiece of the collection is the ‘Maud’ bed (from £4,325), (in our picture,) upholstered and dressed with Nina Campbell’s own fabrics.

Silver leaf and mirror glass add subtly reflective elements. Elegant and extremely romantic, it captures a look, which is perfectly situated between retro and modern classic.

Combining Nina Campbell’s design vision with And So To Bed’s exceptional craft skills, all of the pieces in the collection work separately and together to offer great decorative potential.

The range also includes the charming ‘Gladys’ desk/dressing table (£2,595) of which Nina Campbell says, “This piece will work equally well in a bedroom, a sitting room or even a small hall.”

The ‘Claudette’ medium chest (£2,125) and ‘Ella’ bedside chest (£1,550) are also beautiful pieces in their own right. Nina has designed them to work both as independent elements and as bedside tables.

The massive ‘Wallis’ wardrobe (£5,125) is a wonderfully luxurious piece of furniture and, in common with all of the Charleston Collection, is beautifully finished inside and out, with interiors lined in decorative timbers including acacia and sycamore.

The ‘Uno’ padded ottoman (from £2,075) is another favourite piece of Nina’s, “It’s good looking and hardworking; it provides storage space for extra blankets, but you can also put books or a tray on it, or even use it as a seat.”
And So To Bed has showrooms throughout the UK.

Style Advice For Fitted Wardrobes From Julia Kendell

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Style Advice For Fitted Wardrobes From Julia Kendell Julia Kendell, interior designer, well known for her dramatic room schemes on TV makeover programmes such as DIY SOS and 60 Minute Makeover, has teamed up with Spaceslide, the sliding wardrobe door supplier.

Julia demonstrates how fitted wardrobes offer more than just a practical feature for a bedroom, but can become the main focal point to achieve some of the hottest home interior design trends for 2012.

Reflective And Relaxing (In our picture.)
A wall of mirrored wardrobe doors doesn’t have to be dreary –, but certainly makes a room feel twice the size.

The furniture is the lead feature of this room, where the doors complement the look and are just ideal for a spare room.

White and mirrored surfaces have all round, timeless appeal, so you can play around and update with coloured walls and accessories.

This calming mint scheme has a touch of glitz – where the metallic element in the wallpaper complements the wardrobe doors. This room delivers a New England feel with a contemporary twist. The use of reflective surfaces adds perspective and dimension.

Julia’s top tips for this room:
Mirrored doors make a room look bigger, but a sandblasted/mirrored mix gives the impression that there is a room behind the panel – adding another dimension.

The wallpaper panel adjacent to the feature wall provides a balance to the room and is an inexpensive alternative to artwork.

You can use either door architrave or a mitre block to create a frame that’s then glued to the wall, or wallpaper a strip of wallpaper to the wall and stick the architrave around it.

Other styles available include:

Contemporary Asian Style
The Asian influence of the Oriental Bar design on the sliding wardrobe doors led the theme for this room, and this is going to be hot look for 2012 predicts Julia

Catwalk Cool
Ideal for cool couples and sexy singletons, the frameless sleek lines of this mix and match wardrobe, provide a great backdrop to other design elements in the room.

Playtime
Keep playrooms clutter free to let fun feature walls take centre stage with the clever and practical use of sliding door wardrobes.

Spaceslide.co.uk is one of the UK’s largest online stores for made-to-measure sliding wardrobe door systems and wardrobe storage solutions

Julia Kendell’s six exclusive designs for Spaceslide can be viewed online, and clearly show how sliding wardrobe doors can suit all styles of bedroom interior, whether classic, traditional or trendy in design.

Montana Wardrobe From Icons of Denmark

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Montana Wardrobe From Icons of Denmark Icons of Denmark has introduced the new Montana Wardrobe to the UK - a flexible modular system, which allows you to express your own style.

Montana Wardrobe is a completely new concept that breaks with the traditional idea of a wardrobe as a closet or a space for storing clothes and shoes.

The philosophy behind Montana Wardrobe is that a wardrobe shouldn’t just occupy an entire wall:

  • It should give you the freedom to arrange your home in your own personal manner, maintaining the depth and height of the room and giving it character.
  • Castors can be put under the units to create a mobile wardrobe; it can be placed on a plinth or legs, or hung on the wall to create more lightness and depth.
  • Montana Wardrobe is a well-considered design, consisting of five units that can be combined and built together according to desires and needs.
  • Various components with exquisite details can be added to help keep order and harmony throughout, and Montana’s extensive colour palette allows you to express your personal style.

Montana Wardrobe’s flexible concept is built on Montana’s extensive experience of creating a synthesis of forms, styles and functionality, and can be used with Montana’s other products.

Icons of Denmark’s design team also offer a free design consultancy, to help create your dream interior within the 5 million options Montana offers.

A design service in the comfort of your own home: a member of their design team will visit you at home to help you get most out of Montana’s many options.
