Crocus Garden Wins at Chelsea Flower Show

Tom Stuart Smith Garden by Crocus at The Chelsea Flower ShowCrocus, the gardening website which specialises in plant sales, has just won “Best in Show” with their Tom Stuart Smith / Daily Telegraph garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

They provided all the plants for the garden created by top designer Tom Stuart Smith.

Enclosed on two sides by alternating sections of hornbeam hedge and rusty steel wall, Tom’s garden was a design of contrasts. The garden featured a narrow rill that was partially hidden by naturalistic planting while two staggered groups of Viburnum rhytidophyllum framed views into the garden and provided height.

The central flower planting was based on a European steppe flora and was made up of relatively drought-tolerant species, including bearded iris, grasses, verbascums, salvias, stachys and knautia.

You can buy plants featured in the garden from Crocus, but they only have limited stocks (especially the irises), so you’ll have to hurry if you want to use Tom’s ideas in your own garden.
