The new Odeon chandelier from the exclusive lighting designer Christopher Hyde is a departure from the large scale, magnificent, crystal centrepieces with which he has made his name.
The Odeon is purposefully smaller in scale, at just over half a metre in height and is designed for the typically modest proportions of the modern home.
The Odeon chandelier takes its elegant, fluid design and striking juxtaposition of coloured, lead crystal and sleek polished nickel from the Art Déco period; it is scaled to suit the more modest sized rooms of the modern home, at just 53 cms in height and 68 cms in width and features six lights.
Whilst restrained in size, the Odeon lacks nothing in style being finely crafted in shimmering, lead crystal, off-set against a contemporary polished nickel frame and is partnered by a coordinating two-light wall sconce.
Both the chandelier and wall sconce are crafted in sleek, polished nickel on brass with 24% lead crystal in a choice of black, amber or clear.
The chandelier retails for £2,317.00 (including VAT) and the wall sconce for £851.00 (including VAT).
The Odeon name refers to the so-called Greek theatres, designed to be small intimate places and emphasises the modest proportions of the Odeon fittings; it likewise echoes the Art Déco era, when the original Odeon cinemas were celebrated for their architecture and decoration.
Christopher Hyde has a showroom at 2/12 The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour (2nd Floor Centre Dome), London SW10 OXE, where he provides expert advice on lighting design and offers a wide choice of bespoke designs and finishes.
