While global leaders are in Copenhagen attending the COP15 Climate Change Conference, consumers in the UK are already making an impact on their home energy usage, rather than waiting for long term policies to be effected.
AlertMe, the award-winning home energy management service, believes in a consumer-led solution to climate change, and is empowering consumers to take action today, to reduce their home energy consumption – and their costs.
“Just making energy usage visible to consumers can reduce consumption in the home by as much as 20%, which is a huge win, but it has to be done in a way that is meaningful and fun,†said Pilgrim Beart, co-founder and CEO of AlertMe. “To support the goal of Copenhagen, and help consumers make real changes in their lives, we are launching a fun display that everyone can use – whether or not they are an AlertMe customer.â€
Anyone can watch the Swingometer rock backwards and forwards as the nation increases and decreases its energy use. As 29% of the country’s total energy consumption occurs in the home, it is important for consumers to understand their role in reducing the UK’s carbon footprint.
The Swingometer is available for anyone to view at www.alertme.com/swingometer, and shows energy savings for specific geographic regions and the UK as a whole.
Clicking into the Swingometer shows a “heat map†of savings across the regions of Britain. Existing AlertMe Energy customers can view their individual Swingometer through the AlertMe online dashboards.
AlertMe also helps consumers monitor and control energy usage in the home with the AlertMe Energy kit, an affordable, easy to use service which puts energy online.
