Carl Hansen and Tadao Ando have introduced the Dream Chair – A sculptured lounge chair that presents a mix of traditional Japanese design and Danish skills; the Dream Chair challenges the limits of crafting in wood. It also represents Tadao Ando’s compliment to Hans J. Wegner.
Together, they have fashioned a chair that represents Tadao Ando’s wish to persuade people to indulge in time to dream.
The Dream Chair is a sculptural work of art and its almost floating appearance unsurprisingly attracts attention:
- It is mainly well suited for use in larger rooms, ensuring that it can be viewed and enjoyed from every angle.
- The Dream Chair is also a comfy piece of furniture that encourages relaxed reflection.
- The chair is crafted from 3-dimensional plywood of a special variety that permits it to be bent in two ways during the moulding process, thus achieving a result, in excess of what was thought feasible in working with 3-dimensional plywood.
The Dream Chair is offered in walnut or oak or without upholstery,
Or upholstered in either leather or fabric on the front, plus an adjustable support for the neck.
Priced from £2.545 and it will be available in stores from September.
