\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Pavilion manufacturers have been using cedar for their roof tiles for years,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d explains Damion Merry, Sales Director of Crown Pavilions. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s well known for its naturally occurring preservatives, which make it highly resistant to moisture, decay and insect damage – so it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s much less likely to crack, warp or rot over time.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
And because cedar doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need chemicals, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s more environmentally friendly. So we decided to use it for the main structure as well and this is exactly what we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve done with our new 2009 range.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153So for the very first time we have produced a British-manufactured cedar pavilion to the same exacting spec as our pine pavilions.<\/p>\n
So customers get the best of both worlds: chunky, robust components such as, thick 6 inch by 6 inch posts and 4 inch by 3 inch hand rails – but in a more durable, aesthetically pleasing and more environmentally friendly timber than pine.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
But what about the high price tag associated with cedar?
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re well aware of the pressure on customers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 purse strings, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve made the decision to minimise our margins, without compromising on quality or moving our manufacturing abroad.<\/p>\n
This means that some of our cedar pavilions actually cost less than many competitor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pine pavilions\u00e2\u20ac\u201c and ours are hand-crafted in the UK.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
