The design, taken from an original 18th century fabric, is widely attributed to Anna Maria Garthwaite (1688-1763), England\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first recorded female textile designer, who made her name designing hand-woven silk fabrics using naturalistic motifs, carefully shaded to create a three dimensional style.
