When the architects responsible for renovating Kennington tube station in London wanted authentic replicas of the original Victorian ceramic wall tiles, they turned to Craven Dunnill Jackfield.
Working in close co-operation with English Heritage, Craven Dunnill Jackfield have produced thousands of hand-glazed wall tiles for the Grade II listed ticket office, corridors, and station platform.
The company used a combination of modern know-how and traditional techniques from 130 years ago to produce the ceramic wall tiles of the correct colour and glaze for the underground station – this was of great importance to English Heritage.
