Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the top ten:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> 1.\tBy getting into the mindset of designing with light &#8211; as you do with paint and fabric, as well as colour and texture, you can dramatically change the atmosphere in a room or home.  It just takes imagination and the use of appropriate technology &#8211; whether it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a lighting system, individual dimmers or, simply, the type of light\/lamp you choose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> 2.\tRemember, lighting should draw attention to what you are lighting, not to the lighting itself \u00e2\u20ac\u201c this is probably one of people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most common mistakes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> 3.\tDon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be fooled into thinking that \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcdark = moody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c get it wrong and it can simply look depressing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> 4.\tThere\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no need to just rely on one central light fitting in the home \u00e2\u20ac\u201c instead highlight and spotlight favourite features in a room by using a mix of lighting fixtures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> 5.\tDon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t intrude too much on traditional lighting in period properties or more formal rooms \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a few occasional lamps can work very well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> 6.\tDimmers make all the difference to the ambience in a room.
