Immersed in the glaze, the painting disappears completely beneath a milky white layer, which becomes transparent in the 1450\u00c2\u00b0C hot kiln, only then revealing the d\u00c3\u00a9cor in all its brilliant beauty.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the d\u00c3\u00a9cor, like all Meissen under glaze d\u00c3\u00a9cors, is dishwasher-safe.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its centuries-old tradition, the Meissen Blue Onion pattern has retained its freshness and topicality to this day.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, MEISSEN offered the fans of elegant dining, a stylish alternative: a modern spin on the classic onion pattern (developed after East Asian models in 1739): Blue Onion-pattern style.<\/p>\n<p>The traditional Blue Onion-pattern and its modern cousin can be easily combined, both in the area of dinner sets as well as accessories.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, the Blue Onion pattern does not represent onions, but pomegranates and peaches, symbols of fertility and longevity.<\/p>\n<p>The Meissen Blue Onion pattern was modelled on a slightly different Chinese pattern containing the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthree blessed fruits\u00e2\u20ac\u2122: peach, pomegranate, and lemon.<br \/>\nIn the MEISSEN design, the latter merged with the pomegranate into what is mistaken as an onion.<\/p>\n<p>Web: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meissen.com\/\">http:\/\/www.meissen.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2009, Meissen is celebrating the 270th anniversary of its most important and probably best-known d\u00c3\u00a9cor: the Blue Onion pattern.
