British food is the third most missed home comfort, after the NHS and family Christmases, for Brits living abroad, but new research shows that the cost of eating nostalgically overseas, varies significantly depending on where you set up home.<\/p>\n
The USA caters most for our tastes, offering British favourites such as baked beans, Heinz Tomato Ketchup and English tea bags, 17 per cent cheaper than at home; however, Brits settling closer to home in France, face a price hike of 133 per cent on home comforts.<\/p>\n
The research by Foreign Currency Direct, a specialist foreign exchange provider, shows that British foods brought in France, cost more than double the price you would pay in the UK; the equivalent of \u00c2\u00a335.75 for 6 eggs, 200 English tea bags, a jar of Branston Pickle, Heinz Tomato Ketchup, baked beans, 12 rashers of unsmoked bacon and a pint of beer or lager.
\nAt today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s exchange rates these items cost just \u00c2\u00a315.36 in the UK and \u00c2\u00a312.82 in the US.<\/p>\n
