Spitalfields from Northcroft Fabrics is a reversible silk fabric, which captures the essence of summer with its delicate honeysuckle flowers on a pale background in a classic, naturalistic style.
The design, taken from an original 18th century fabric, is widely attributed to Anna Maria Garthwaite (1688-1763), England’s first recorded female textile designer, who made her name designing hand-woven silk fabrics using naturalistic motifs, carefully shaded to create a three dimensional style.
