Bathrooms International, the leading specialist bathrooms company,
has always recognised that a bathroom is an important and private place that provides us with beneficial restorative powers!
Creating a spa at home is increasingly popular, and the benefits of water, steam, shower and massage jets can help alleviate tiredness, aching muscles and other ailments; e.g. a hot shower can invigorate, and release endorphins, while a cold shower can perform miracles on skin tissue.
Â
Cheryl Gurner, a Director at Bathrooms International, kindly shares her knowledge and experience, by offering these tips on the healing powers of the spa environment:
Relaxation…A warm bath or shower will revive, warm and de-stress.
Â
Energise…A warm, but not hot, shower will provide renewed energy.
Hydration…Dry winter skin will feel supple with ‘drenchers’ and rain showers, ready for moisturising.
Steam…Add a few drops of eucalyptus for instant relief from cold symptoms.
Massage…Keep a portable massage table near the bathroom, to enable you to drift from a warming water therapy straight into a massage.
Smell…Scent is nurturing and evocative, helping you to feel the way you want to feel; add it to the water or spray it on to calm and lift the spirit, making you feel glamorous.
Mani-Pedi…Provide yourself with a chair, a cushion and a `tools’ basket to make it all feel like a treat, not a chore.
And to finish the effect make sure you have:
Towels, a dressing gown and soft leather or fur slippers – the softest and thickest you can find, in white.
Books and magazines, but not newspapers, and definitely no weight scales – because you want to relax and escape!
